Pirates Draft Jennings

DeKalb County High School pitching standout Steven Jennings was chosen by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the MLB draft Monday night.

Jennings, the 42nd overall pick, boasts a fastball that reaches 95 mph, as well as a solid slider, curveball and changeup. He struck out 99 batters in 51.2 innings for DCHS in 2017, with a .542 ERA.

Jennings signed with Ole Miss after his junior year, but Ole Miss will lose him to Pittsburgh. Jennings will soon travel to Tampa, Florida to play rookie ball.
