Residents wake to intruder


A 47-year-old Smithville man is charged burglary and vandalism after residents of a Sparta Highway home allegedly woke Sunday morning with him standing in their living room.


According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Alfred Mitchell Horn of Eagle Creek Road, Smithville, entered the residence through a window. When confronted, Horn reportedly threw a cigarette and poured a beer on the victims. Ray said Horn also used a baseball bat to break the windows of a 1998 Chevy Blazer after exiting the residence.
