Steakley accused of raping mentally challenged woman

A Smithville man is charged with the June 29 rape of a mentally disabled woman.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Brandon Dean Steakley, 40, unlawfully sexually penetrated the woman without her consent. He allegedly had reason to believe that his victim was mentally defective.

His bond is $75,000, and his court date is Aug. 10.

Meanwhile, Dustin O’Brian Cash, 32, charged with violation of the sex offender law and criminal impersonation, as well as being cited for possession of drug paraphernalia on July 26.
