Man charged with child rape

The sheriff’s department has arrested a 30-year-old Smithville man for the alleged rape of an eight-year-old boy.
Jose Juan Reyes was arrested and charged with two counts of rape of a child and one count of sexual battery on March 6.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Reyes did have unlawful sexual contact with and committed the offense of child rape by sexual penetration of an eight-year-old boy on two occasions in February at the Reyes’ residence on Blue Springs Road.
His bond was set at $135,000 and he will appear in court March 14.
