Tigerettes start 2013 season

Regular season for the DeKalb County High School softball team began with a bang as the Tigerettes posted four victories during the week.
On Thursday, DeKalb hosted the Lady Warriors from White County High School for the season-opening double-header.
The Tigerettes won both contests, 2-1 and 6-0.
In the first game, White County scored in the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the third inning, the Tigerettes took a 2-1 lead on Taylor Monette's sacrifice fly to right field that plated Anneika Norton and Danielle Tyson.
Norton went two-for-three with a single and a triple. Lindsey Taylor went two-for-two with two singles while both Taylor and Monette had two RBIs. Pitcher Shawna Taylor took the win for the Tigerettes.
In the second game, pitcher Lauren Colwell recorded the win as the bats came alive for the Tigerettes in the 6-0 victory.
Freshman Katie Hall set the tone early, blasting a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to put her team ahead 2-0.
Tyra Graham went two-for-two with one RBI. Lauren Colwell went two-for-three with a single, double and one RBI. Lauren Cripps went one for three with a single.
On Friday, the Tigerettes, once again, played host, this time to Cumberland County in yet another double-header that saw DeKalb notch two more wins.
Pulling out a 3-1 victory in the first contest, the Tigerettes hammered Cumberland 10-6 in the nightcap.
In the first game, Cumberland took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and maintained the lead until the bottom of the third inning when DeKalb's Lauren Cripps crossed the plate to tie the game at one.
After holding Cumberland scoreless in the top half of the fourth, the Tigerettes took a two-run lead in the bottom half of the inning.
Danielle Tyson's single drove in Taylor Monette and Annieka Norton to put the Tigerettes ahead for good with the score 3-1.
Winning pitcher Lauren Colwell struck out two for DeKalb. DeKalb County scored three runs on seven hits and had no errors. Cumberland County scored one run on five hits and made two errors.
The second game saw Cumberland take the lead once again in the top of the first inning. However, in this game, DeKalb's offense scored in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game.
A four-run second inning and five-run third inning saw the Tigerettes jump out to a big 10-1 lead. Cumberland did not quit as they scored two runs in the fourth inning and plated two more in the fifth to put the score at the final 10-6.
