Two DeKalb pitchers up for MLB draft

Steven Jennings pitched 51.2 innings in 11 games before the 2017 season ended for the Tigers, allowing only 15 hits and 11 runs all year. He struck out 99 batters this season, with an ERA of .542.

Two former DeKalb County pitchers are up for a spot in the MLB draft, which began Monday.

 

Cody Puckett, a 2013 graduate of DCHS and current hurler at MTSU, reportedly traveled to Cincinnati last week to show off his skills for the Reds, and has been scouted by the Oakland A’s.

 

Puckett pitched three winning games for the Blue Raiders this year, finishing with the second lowest ERA on the squad, 4.76. He led the team in strikeouts, sending 71 batters back to the dugout in 58.23 innings on the mound. Dreaftsite.com projects Puckett to be ...
