Hope you’re doing well and that you had a great Memorial Day weekend.

A guy that I graduated with, Ricky Todd, told me about the time he got baptized. Never heard of a funnier baptism than this one ever happening.

Some time ago there was this baptism that didn’t turn out as planned for this certain individual. This guy informed me he was going to be baptized, and he was a pretty tall guy and weighed quite a bit.

The preacher was a lot smaller that this guy, and he told him he was going to let him down in the water for the man to be sure to plant his feet firmly on the bottom so he could push back up out of the water and everything would be just fine.

Well, when the preacher let him down in the water, the guy proceeded to firmly put his feet on the bottom as he was instructed to do. When he did this, his feet flew out from under him and came out of the water and down went the preacher and the guy in the water both of them struggling to get some traction, but none could be gotten.

The guy and the preacher trying to get to a step or something to hold on to as they were desperately trying to get out of there. The guy said he heard a few out there laughing as they just couldn’t help it. Finally, they both got out of there and toweled off and changed clothes and came out.

Everyone at this point trying to keep from losing it. The guy told them this was a day of jubilation for him, so go ahead and have a good laugh.

I told Ricky I wish I had been there even though I would have lost it too. Ricky has since gone home to be with Jesus. I’ll see him again someday, and hopefully he might have another funny story to tell me.

Please keep the following people in prayer: Charlie Mai Daniel, Ruth Brown, Fay Pitts, Edith Miller, Denise Stanton, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, and the family of Lillian Stanley Taylor (this was Bobby Taylor’s wife).
