After having taught Physical Education at DeKalb West School form many years, Ricky (Coach) Hendrix has retired. Congratulations from your community friends and family. We wish Ricky many happy years to travel, farm, and enjoy his family. Thank you for your many years of serving the children of DeKalb County.

Roscoe Frazier had surgery last Tuesday at the Murfreesboro Medical Center Hospital. His family and friends are with him during this illness. We pray for Roscoe. He is a dear friend to all that live here.

Rob and Nora Harvey, Sam and Lyle Harvey, and little Alma Rose have been vacationing in South Carolina. Sam is hard at work on the farm. We enjoy hearing from our neighbors.

We send our sympathy to the family of Mr. Woodrow Pack. We remember him and his dear wife from years past. He will be missed by his wonderful family. Our prayers are with you all during these days.

The farmers have been cutting hay all week. The Hendrix, Harvey, and Cripps families are in the fields daily. We know the lack of rain has caused the hay crop to dry up early. This puts our farmers in a rush. The call for rain is in the forecast, so hopefully this will be a break for them. The gardens sure could use the rains. We hope this won’t be one of those long dry summers. A few years back some of our family had to purchase hay from out west, due to lack of rain here. Some farmers sold some of their herds to help manage the lack of hay. Hopefully this will not be a repeat of that year.

The Yellow Finch group has been with us for the sixth week. They are beautiful! It is really unusual for them to stay here for more than a week or two. We enjoy seeing them at our feeders.

Our patio is full of blooming flowers, varied types of ferns, and elephant ears in black and green. It takes time to keep everything watered, but the beauty flowers bring is well worth the time it takes to plant and water.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Christian Cripps who is turning four on the 6th and Brandon Kent who is tuning 6 on the 7th. These boys enjoyed a fun filled day at BounceU in Murfreesboro. Family and friends gathers to enjoy the afternoon with the birthday boys. We wish our two great-grandsons another wonderful year.

Matt and Melody Cripps and sons, Jordan and Nicole Cripps, and children, Wanda Cripps, Angela Royalty, Brody and Brayden visited Dwight Cripps last Sunday.

Prayer list: Jimmy Kimbrell, Buddy Fuson, Mary Joines, Roscoe Frazier, Russell Estes, and the families of Hobert Agee, Garry Mullican, and Woodrow Pack.

Jesus said to them, "I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?"

Luke 6:9 Doing good on any day is the best way to live by the will of God. Visit a sick friend, help a single mother, mentor a child. Let’s go and act like Jesus today!
