We enjoyed many visitors last week. It was good to see Edward and Frances Frazier, and Edsel Frazier last week. Edward’s grandson Rance and wife, Annette, brought them down for a visit. Edward is an answer to everyone’s prayers. His health isn’t perfect, but he is getting stronger day by day. Continue to pray for this dear cousin. Thank you Rance and Annette for taking the time to bring them to visit.
Jeanette France brought by a sack of tomatoes last week. She has been so kind to share her garden with us this summer. We enjoy tomatoes three times a day with every meal. Later in the afternoon Ms. Fay Adkins visited. It is always good to see this dear lady. She had been in the garden picking okra. A woman’s work is never done. We look forward to Ms. Fay’s next visit.
Canning is still going on in the Frazier household. Last week we stopped at Griffin’s Fruit Market to purchase some peaches. They are already in the can without us eating a bite. We know they will be yummy this winter in cobblers. Thank you Rosie Young for helping with the task of canning them.
The Solar Eclipse is certainly the big news around TN. There are tee shirts being made and special glasses to be worn for viewing. The Smithville Library is hosting the big event in town for those that can attend. Thank you Justin Potter Library, Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital, Smithville-DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, DeKalb Co. Govt., & the City of Smithville for planning this event for our community. Remember to make sure you have those special glasses for viewing, because the news folks are all warning of the damage the light could cause to the unprotected eye.
It has been so sad to watch Mayor Megan Berry report on the death of her only child to drugs. She is a courageous woman to share her son’s journey. Her message now is to speaking out for drug prevention, so others will not experience such pain. Talk daily to your children about staying healthy and drug free. Watch them closely and be involved in their lives. It is in true epidemic status and it will take us all fighting together to make the change.
Get well wishes go out to Nolan Turner and Karen Jacobs. Happy birthday wishes to grandson Matt Cripps (18th) of Murfreesboro.
We are saddened to hear of the sudden death of Nelson Caldwell. Please remember his family in your prayers.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
