Homecoming at Dry Creek Baptist Church was held on June 4th. Bro. Carl Smith was the guest speaker but was unable to attend due to suffering from a kidney stone. Bro. Donald Owens gave the sermon and Bro. Bill Cox, and Bro. and Mrs. Elmo Mercer brought the special music. The homecoming meal was served in the fellowship hall. A good time was had by all. We were thankful to be able to attend this special event. We send out get well wishes to Bro. Carl Smith and Mrs. Audrey Owens. We missed these fine folks on Sunday.

Jeanette France, Kathy Hendrix, and Lisa Cripps all report their gardens are growing. We had our first tomato, squash, and cucumbers this week. The recent rains sure helped everything grow around Dry Creek. The hayfield outside my door is already getting big again.

We are thankful to Kenny Edge for getting my oven fixed. He has always been gifted at fixing about anything. We are thankful for his help.

We enjoyed reading this last week’s Reminiscing section in the Smithville Review on Henrietta Hale. It was unknown to me that she has taught school during the war. She had a lovely family. Her sister, Inez and your writer graduated high school together in 1936. Thank you sharing your life with the readers.

Many young people enjoyed three days of V.B.S. at Dry Creek Baptist Church. The children enjoyed learning, crafting, singing, and activities outside. On Saturday a nice lunch was prepared and the duck race was the event of the afternoon. All the children were so excited to get into the creek to see who won the duck race. Thank you parents for bringing your little ones to V.B.S.

Thank you to Rosea Young, Fay Adkins, and Matilda Earl for the beautiful cut flowers for my side table.

Last Sunday I wore my mother’s old bonnet with lace tatting. Mother had some beautiful pieces she tatted and the bonnet is a special beauty.

Get well wishes to the following: Danny Agee, Frances Frazier, Georgia Hawker, Nonnie Tramel and NHC and Jimmy Mullinax.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Kathy and Ricky Hendrix, great-grandson, Chrisitan Cripps, and Kenny Edge.

The following are events at Dry Creek Baptist Church: Recognition of father, June 18, Nation’s Birthday on July 2, July 3 visit Amish country and July 15 Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park.

We welcome home Buddy and Deborah Fuson, who will be staying here for about a month. We really enjoy their visits and look forward to our adventures during their visit.

Mark 13: 32-33 But of that day and that hour no man, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye knot not when the time is.
