News from the Mountain
Back to school

We all have to get back into the routine of school being back in session and to “slow” our vehicles down in the school zones. The lights flashing should get our attention, because we sure don’t want to run over a child.

Several people to keep in your prayers: The family of Freddie Sneed, Houston and Martha Parker, Denise Stanton, Charlie Mai Daniel and Carlon and Mai Nell Melton.

What a beautiful day we’ve had up here on the mountain as the sun has been hidden by all those puffy, white clouds most of the day. I’ve actually gotten some outdoor stuff done and have enjoyed our patio a lot today. My neighbor Randy mowing his yard this evening and does that grass that has been cut smell so good. I’m one of those people that loves the smell of the first mowing of spring and the aroma of those wild onions in the air.

Seems like I’m always stopping by a funeral home these days to pay my respects to someone who I knew that has passed away and to their family. Mr. Charles S Burchfield, 72, of Smithville passed away Friday July 28 at his residence “Aubrey” and his dad, John, sure thought a lot of Charles. Relating to Stacy, his son, about when Aubrey’s dad would be in the hospital Charles would always go spend time with John, before we got there. You don’t forget a thoughtful man like that. Please keep the Burchfield family in your prayers.

Hummingbirds flying up pretty close to me while I’m writing the column at out patio table. I already know what this is all about. They simply want someone – namely me – to clean out the two feeders I have out and put fresh nectar out for them. I put one quarter cup sugar to one cup water and stir it up real good until the sugar is all dissolved. I fill each feeder this way.

Hope you get to be in the Lord’s House this Sunday to praise and worship him.

If you have any news for the column, just give me a call at 615-563-4429.

Have a great day!

His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is they faithfulness.
