Dry Creek Flashes

We remembered all the men and women that gave their lives in service of their country during the Memorial Day traditional observance. Several flags and red, white, and blue flowers were placed on our loved ones graves. It is truly a calling to serve, and we appreciate our freedom because of their service.

Dry Creek Baptist Church had a special Recognition of Veterans during their morning service. In the afternoon they had the annual Men’s Cake Baking Contest. We believe Bobby Robinson’s cake won last year. Bobby is our choir director and his cake was decorated as notes. We know Danny Agee can bake a good cake. He always brings the best orange slice cake to the Frazier family during the Christmas holidays. We wish good luck to our son in law Jimmy Kimbrell. He is a fabulous cook with the meal food and grilling, but we aren’t sure about his cake baking abilities. Good luck guys.

We enjoyed Phil Cripps’ visit one day last week, please bring Dinah with you next visit. Neighbor, Jeanette France, brought over several dozen of fresh eggs last week. We appreciate her. Brenda Womack Wittinghill has been home from West Virginia visiting her family Jimmy and Becky Womack in Smithville. She is good to always come back to the creek to visit us, and we appreciate her thoughtfulness. Please add her husband Bob to your prayer list. He will be having some heart surgery in the near future.

We have canned the last of the strawberries this week. Berries are expensive this year, and it took a long time to cap them. We were thankful to Lisa for taking over after the capping was completed. Nine more cans of frozen strawberry jam are in the freezer, which will be some good eating with a hot buttered biscuit.

Congratulations to two of our great-grandsons, Christian Cripps and Levi Reynolds for graduating from their preschools. Levi’s sister Molly got to sing during Levi’s graduation. We love these little boys and wish them much success as they both enter kindergarten at DeKalb West School next fall.

We extend sympathy to Nolan and Polly Turner in the death of Jo Ellen Huffman. She was always the smiling face at the UT Extension desk. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, the 4 H children and her co-workers.

Please put June 4th on your calendar to attend Dry Creek Baptist Homecoming. We will promise a special message from Bro. Carl Smith who pastored here in the early fifties. A wonderful meal will be ready to enjoy after the morning service. Everyone is welcome to attend.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
