Election news is the major news last week, this week and probably for the coming weeks. Some people say they're tired of hearing and seeing all this election news.

Congratulations to Leah Magness, Teacher of the Year, at Smithville Elementary.

Sympathy to the family of Brownie Curtis. She lived below us on Midway Road and was involved in a county office for many years. A fine lady!

Also sympathy to Kathy Carpenter and family in the death last week of her mother, Betty Gunter in Joelton. Rev. Ed Moore filled the pulpit last Sunday in the absence of Dr. Carpenter.

Get-well wishes to Larry Tatum, Holly Forkner,Charmaine Mitchell, Bertha McBride. Ron Mollinet and Laird Barnard.

Derek Driver celebrated his birthday last weekend. His father, Robin, took him out to dinner one evening and then the family gathered at the home of his grandparents, Charlotte and Laird Barnard, on Sunday evening for a delicious rib dinner and birthday cake. He received several nice gifts.

This Thursday is St. Patrick's Day. I did a children's message at First Methodist last Sunday on St. Patrick;s. I relayed the story of the shamrock with 3 petals which he told symbolized (God, the Father, God the Son(Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. I also wore my green blazer, the color of the shamrock. St. Patrick was from Ireland. So wear green, if you can.

Thought of the Week: Spend your thoughts being happy about the future, and not about the past." Suzie Orman.
