43rd Annual Older Americans Day Celebration
Older American Month

The month of May is recognized nationally as Older Americans Month, a time when we acknowledge the vast contributions older adults make to their families, communities and the nation.  Justin Potter Library is excited to be partnering with the Alexandria and Smithville Senior Centers in participating in the national celebration by hosting Older Americans Day. The event will be held at the DeKalb County Complex Theater area located at 712 S Congress Blvd in Smithville on Wednesday, May 17th.  The vendor displays will be open from 9 – 10:30 a.m., with drawings for door prizes and entertainment to follow.

This year’s theme is “Aging Unbound”. The featured entertainment will be the local classic rock band “61 Seconds”.  We want to thank the local businesses for providing the door prizes and items for the goody bags and sack lunches for the older Americans to enjoy.

Everyone who is an older American is invited to this free event. For more information, call the library at 615-597-4359 or visit us on our website dekalblibraries.net or Facebook.
