A near capacity audience packed the county
complex for food, fellowship and prayer at the 48th annual Chamber
Prayer Breakfast.
The event, along with prayers offered up
for the community, featured two main events including songs by Grammy Award
winning singer Darrin Vincent and a keynote address by Nancy Trapp.

During her address, Trapp told the
audience to remember the lesson taught to them by Nehemiah in the Old Testament
and to especially be mindful of the five P’s learned from his story. Nehemiah
was the profit who returned home from captivity to spearhead the rebuilding of
the wall in Jerusalem. Trapp said that return home, being a servant of the king
in a foreign land, began with prayer. However, after praying for God’s will to
be shown to him, next came formulating a plan for what he needed of his king to
help reconstruct the wall. Even after getting the things he asked for, Nehemiah
was still in need of protection, both from without and from within. And lastly,
Nehemiah did not forget to give praise once the wall was completed.
“We should all remember the five P’s in
our daily lives,” she said, noting that they have helped her on her journey.
Trapp pointed out that in the last few
years she has lost several close family members but the local support she has
received has been overwhelming.
“There’s not one moment I’ve felt alone,”
she said of the community, revealing that unfortunately she will soon be moving
to Louisiana to be closer to her kin folks. “I will carry in my heart as I move
away, a part of each and every one of you that you have given me.”
Vincent took the stage after Trapp’s
remarks, echoing her love of DeKalb County and its people.

“The best part about this county is its
people and I think we all want to make this a better place to live or ourselves
and our children that will leave a legacy for generations,” he said.
