Alexandria Police Make Arrests

The Alexandria Police Department had a busy month of June and July, making several arrests including drug busts and break-in arrests.

Alexandria Police Chief Travis Bryant said that on June 9, 57-year-old Gary Britt of Holmes Creek Road, Smithville, was charged with driving on revoked second offense, possession of a schedule VI drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Nashville Highway and Goose Creek Road. A computer check of his license revealed that they were revoked for DUI and having a prior driving on revoked charge.

A search revealed a bag of green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a rolled marijuana cigarette. Also located was a set of scales with marijuana residue and a white residue believed to be methamphetamine. His bond was set at $3,000 and his court date was set for June 27.

On June 15, 47-year-old Ronica Lockridge of Spry Road, Bradyville, was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers made a traffic stop on Brush Creek Highway and came into contact with Lockridge. During the stop, officers were able to recover items consistent with drug use.  Lockridge allegedly did state to officers that she used the items to smoke marijuana. Her court date was set for July 11.

That same day, 53-year-old Beulah Howse of Sugar Tree Knob Road, Liberty, was charged with possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.

An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Brush Creek Highway and came into contact with Howse. During the stop, officers located a black scale with a clear crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. Her court date was set for July 11.

On June 21, 61-year-old Charles Treadwell of West Tanager Place of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was charged with unlawful possession of a schedule VI drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers allege that they observed an odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle as it was leaving the fairgrounds. Officers initiated a traffic stop on East Main Street and made contact with Treadwell. Officers were able to recover over 15 grams of a green leafy substance and a used pipe with marijuana residue. He will appear in court on July 11.

Matthew Moore, 56, of New Hope Road, Alexandria, was a passenger in the vehicle with Treadwell. During the traffic stop he was also found with a schedule VI drug (marijuana). His court date was set for July 11.

On June 23, 65-year-old Richard Layton of McGinnis Lane, Alexandria, was arrested for fraudulent use of a debit card.

On June 7, officers received a report that Layton had used a debit card not belonging to him and used it on three separate occasions within the Town of Alexandria. He was taken into custody on June 23 in Alexandria. His bond was set at $10,500 and court date was set for July 11.

 

On July 12, 54-year-old Steven Curtis of Upper Helton Road, Alexandria, was charged with possession of a schedule III drug (Suboxone) and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and made contact with Curtis. A search of the vehicle revealed a pill crusher and a half of a suboxone pill. His court date was set for July 25.

On July 17, 32-year-old Jennilee Lenker of Cayuga Drive, Murfreesboro, was charged with DUI first offense and child abuse or neglect.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. As the officer approached the vehicle, he could allegedly detect a strong odor of alcohol. While speaking with Lenker, officers noticed that she appeared to be under the influence. When she exited the vehicle, she was unsteady on her feet and had slurred speech.

When asked to perform field sobriety tests, she stated that she “didn't know what that was.” Officers also observed a small child in the back seat. Children's services were called to the scene and Lenker was transported to the jail where a search warrant was obtained for blood. Her bond was set at $7,500 and will appear in court on August 1.

On July 22, 31-year-old Dale Stubblefield of Laverne Street, Alexandria, was arrested for assault while 30-year-old Joshua Lee of Anthony Avenue, Smithville, was charged with aggravated assault.

Chief Bryant reported that officers responded to a fight call on Laverne Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Stubblefield and Lee. During the investigation, officers determined that a verbal altercation had occurred and that Stubblefield allegedly had approached and struck Lee in the face. As Dale was walking away, police say that Joshua pulled a .40 caliber handgun and pointed it at Stubblefield. Both suspects will appear in court on August 8.

On August 7, 41-year-old James Joplin Jr of Waldon Ferry Road, Hendersonville, was charged with aggravated burglary and public intoxication.

Officers were called to Allen Street on a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival officers observed the male suspect and the homeowner in the front yard. The homeowner stated that he was in bed and heard his dog barking. When he went to investigate, he observed a male suspect in the hallway eating items he had taken from the kitchen.

While speaking with him officers believed he may have been under the influence of an intoxicant. His bond was set at $8,000 and he will appear in court on August 22.
