Ambrose arrested for kidnapping
Zachary Ambrose

An Oliver Springs man was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including kidnapping by the Smithville Police Department on March 16, 2021.

Zachary Preston Ambrose, 18, allegedly entered Shelby Ambrose’s apartment on Walker Drive and took her car keys, cell phone and would not let her leave. Mrs. Ambrose told police that Mr. Ambrose choked her and started hitting her in the face. She stated he would not let her leave to go to work. She then told him she needed to go see her grandfather. Mr. Ambrose stated he was going as well.  He climbed into the backseat and choked her as she drove to make sure she was driving to her grandfather’s house. Once back to her apartment, police made contact with Mrs. Ambrose in the parking lot, and she was very distraught and crying. She also had bruising and scratches on her face. Officers made contact with Mrs. Ambrose who was still hiding in the backseat of the car. After handcuffing him, he tried to escape by running but was caught by Patrolman Andy Snow. An order of protection against Mr. Ambrose has been active since October 19, 2020.

He was arrested and taken to jail where his total bond is $6,300, and he is to appear in court on these charges April 22, 2021.
