Veterans Service Officer Ready to Assist

Are you a veteran in need of assistance? DeKalb County has a Veteran's Service Officer ready to help you, not only with filing claims, but for conversations about your service.

Retired military service officer Bill Rutherford is located on the first floor of the DeKalb County Courthouse and is ready to offer assistance. He is available for in-office visits each Tuesday and Thursday or can be reached by telephone at any time at 615-560-3610.

DeKalb County appreciates the service of all veterans and is proud to provide this service.

 

Artifact Show, July 23

A Artifact show will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 8 am to 1 pm at the DeKalb County Complex in the auditorium. This is a free events and there will be 60 tables full of exhibits. Everyone is welcome.

The DeKalb County Library Board meeting will have their bi-monthly meeting at Justin Potter Library on Tuesday, July 26,2022 at 4 p.m. The public is welcomed to attend.

Snow Hill Baptist Church is having a FREE yard sale on Saturday, July 23rd. Household items, clothes of all sizes toys, and other items. Everything is FREE. Starts at around 8:00 and ends at 12:00 Noon . Please take ALL that you need for yourself or others. God Bless. Walgreens, 1st Annual Summer Sizzle, July 24

Come and join us for some good family fun on Sunday, July 24 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds are going toward feeding our local community. We aer providing hot dogs, chips, and drinks at no charge, until we run out. We will have shaved ice, bounce house, games, dunking booth and a raffle among other exciting things. We will have booths from our local businesses also. Come and meet our new team members, mnagaer and pharmacists. Smithville L.B.J. &C. Head Start accepting new students

Smithville L.B.J. &C. Head Start is now accepting new students for the 2022-23 School Year. Children 3-5 years old are eligible for the Head Start program, but spaces are limited and parents are encouraged to apply now. There is no cost for families who choose to participate in the program. L.B.J. & C. Head Start is committed to ensuring that children who leave our program are prepared when they enter the kindergarten program in the public schools. The Head Start program provides a comprehensive health service program that includes a broad range of medical, dental, mental health, and nutrition services for the children. L.B.J.& C. School Calendar for 2022-23 Year

The school calendar is set for the 2022-23 year. A system-wide in-service day will be July 26 and at the individual schools July 27 & 28. Registration for students will be Monday, August 1 and the first full day of school is set for Wednesday, August 3. Tuesday, August 2 will be an administrative day for teachers only. DeKalb County students and teachers will have a full week off for fall break October 17-21, Thanksgiving November 21-25, and spring break March 27-31, and a two week break for Christmas December 21 to January 4. December 20 will be an abbreviated day. Students will return to school after the Christmas holiday on January 5, 2023. Schools will also be closed for Labor Day September 5, Dr. Martin Luther King Day January 16, President’s Day February 20, and Good Friday April 7. The last day of school will be May 24, 2023. Report cards will be issued at all schools on October 10, January 9, March 14, and May 24. Parent teacher conferences will be held at DCHS from 3-6 p.m. on October 10 and March 14 and at all the other schools, DWS, NES, SES, and DMS from 3-6 p.m. on October 13 and March 16.
