On April 20, 31-year-old Gerardo Morales of Blue Springs Road, Smithville, was arrested for domestic assault. He is under a $3,500 bond and he is due in court on May 8.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said that a deputy responded to a call on Blue Springs Road in reference to domestic abuse. Upon arrival, authorities made contact with a female and her daughter.

The woman stated that Morales and the daughter got into an argument, when she slapped Morales’ arm to get him away from her daughter. He then hit her on the left side of her face, causing swelling and bruising. The daughter stated that she had witnessed the entire incident.

On April 23, 49-year-old Michael Dwayne Bennett of Fuston Hollow Road, Alexandria, was arrested for resisting arrest, driving on a revoke license, and two counts of assault. He is under a $17,000 bond and is due to appear in court on May 8.

Authorities say that Bennett had an altercation with a male and female on a public roadway, making a shooting gun gesture at the victims, causing the victims to fear for immediate bodily injury. Sheriff Ray alleged that Bennett had been prowling around a house when the owners confronted him.

Later, a sheriff’s department detective initiated a traffic stop on Bennett for driving on a revoked license. It was confirmed through Central Dispatch that his license had been revoked. As he was being placed under arrest, Sheriff Ray said that Bennett became irate and refused to comply with authorities. The detective grabbed the man’s arm, when Bennett pulled away and refused commands. After a short struggle, he was placed in custody.

On April 29, 35-year-old Debora Denise Waldo of Miller Road, Smithville, was arrested for driving on a revoked license and criminal impersonation. She had a $7,500 bond and will appear in court on May 15.

Sheriff Ray said that a detective was patrolling Evins Mill Road when he noticed a black Ford F-150 traveling in the opposite lane of travel. After a traffic stop, the detective made contact with a female who advised her name was Candice Stajda with a date of birth as September 18, 2000. The license came back with no record and after an investigation, the woman was found to actually be Debra Waldo.

Authorities say Waldo lied about her name due to being wanted out of White and DeKalb Counties, due to a revoked license from a DUI in 2015.
