Authorities are investigating the scene of a mobile home fire, where the body of a 38-year-old man was found after the blaze was extinguished. Officials say that Jason Tallent, and employee with the City of Smithville and the owner of In the Flesh Photography, was found in the rubble.

On Wednesday, July 14, at 6:08 a.m., E-911 dispatchers received a call reporting a fire at 1383 Dale Ridge Road. Liberty Engine 65, Cookeville Highway Engine 61, and Main Station Engine 59 responded to the scene, along with Tanker 1, deputies with the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department, and a unit with DeKalb EMS.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews worked to extinguish the fire, and afterwards discovered Tallent’s body in the debris.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Bomb and Arson Division was called in to investigate the scene. Though the cause of the blaze in undetermined, the fire is not believed to be suspicious. The body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and the case remains under investigation.
