bridges for the deaf and hard of hearing announces new programming
based in warren County, Tennessee
In a collaboration with Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults, based in Chattanooga, new educational and community engagement opportunities for the Deaf and hard of hearing will be offered!
Nashville, Tennessee - (January 7, 2020) –On January 17, 2020, Bridges for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will host its first monthly community gathering, a Game Day and lunch, in Warren County at the Central Church of Christ located at 101 East Morford Street in McMinnville (TN) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In collaboration with Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults, a nonprofit serving the Deaf and hard of hearing in Chattanooga (TN), this initiative will bring language-accessible educational opportunities, programs, and services, perhaps including American Sign Language classes and some youth programming. The Deaf and hard of hearing communities of Warren and surrounding counties are invited to attend, and Bridges for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing staff will be on hand to introduce themselves and to lead a discussion to identify the most requested or needed services. Lunch will be provided, so individuals are asked to RSVP through the Bridges for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Facebook page or website or by email info@bridgesfordeafandhh.org.
“We serve Middle and West Tennessee as well as parts of Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas. We recognize the challenge for D/deaf and hard of hearing individuals living in rural areas who cannot easily access all the needed services we offer,” said Nancy Denning-Martin, President & CEO. “We’re excited to bring services more directly to communities, and we’re grateful for the collaboration of Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults to make this happen. We’re also thankful to the Central Church of Christ for hosting us in an easy location for people to gather to experience a fully language-accessible community and services.”
Game Days will be held on the third Friday of every month from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Central Church of Christ and are scheduled through March 2020 with plans to continue if there’s a good response.
