The Smithville Police Department has released their arrest reports for the month of May, which include a 53-year-old man accused of raping an eight-year-old child.

 

According to police, Pablo Jacinto was arrested on May 5 at a residence on Atnip Street for an alleged rape of a child from almost four years ago. According to the warrant, Jacinto had sexual contact with his girlfriend’s daughter, who was eight years old at the time, touching her private parts resulting in penetration. This occurred several times over a period of months starting in September, 2017. The child was later removed from the home.

 

Jacinto is under a $125,000 bond. The case was investigated by a detective of the Smithville Police Department.

 

Benjamin Thomas Duffey, 21, of 161 Meadow Brook Drive was arrested on May 2 for aggravated assault (domestic). Police allege that Duffey assaulted the victim by hitting and choking her. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the pair were going home after attending a party in Alexandria and began to argue. Once they arrived home, it became physical. Police say the victim did have red marks around her neck and a couple of other scratches on her person.  Duffey is under a $20,000 bond.

 

On May 4, David Allen Cobb, 39, of 857 Luttrell Avenue was arrested for assault and cited for criminal trespass. According to police, Cobb used his body to push against the victim in the case, to gain entrance into the home that he had been trespassing from the day before. He is under a $3,500 bond.

 

Cedric Anthony Cruz, 20, of Dowelltown was cited on May 8 for speeding and simple possession of a schedule VI drug. Police say that upon a routine traffic stop for speeding, Cruz was found to be in possession of approximately 3.5 ounces of marijuana.

 

On May 11, 54-year-old Joe Anthony Young of 216 Lee Homer Road was arrested for aggravated assault. Police were dispatched to 218 Jennings Lane in reference to a person threatening people with a screwdriver. Police say that while investigating, it was discovered that Young had cut the victim with a knife in multiple places, including the face and hand. He is under a $10,000 bond. And to appear in court on June 10.

 

On May 14, 31-year-old Porsche Lynn Cantrell was arrested for DUI 3rd offense, and cited for open container and financial responsibility. Officers were called to Pizza Hut parking lot for a motor vehicle crash. According to police, Cantrell had an odor of alcohol coming from her person and slurred speech. Cantrell had jumped the curb of Pizza Hut striking another vehicle.

 

Cantrell was asked and consented to field sobriety tasks to which she performed poorly. An empty bottle of Jim Beam whiskey was recovered from the middle console of her vehicle and she couldn’t provide proof of insurance. She is under a $6,000 bond and due in court on June 24.

 

That same day, 21-year-old Sean Douglas Austin of 323 Wade St was arrested for aggravated assault (domestic). Police were dispatched to 323 Wade Street in reference to an allegation of Austin messing with a car.

 

Upon arrival, Austin was found inside the home and was detained due to prior knowledge of active warrants against him. Police allege that Austin had threatened the victim for not giving him her car keys and then grabbed her neck and choked her. He is under a $10,000 bond and due in court on June 10.

 

On May 18, 48-year-old Patsy Lynn Estes of 131 Yulanda Hills Road was cited for theft. Police say that Estes entered Moses Discount Tobacco on March 26, 2021, and took approximately $25 worth of candy and left the store without paying for the items. This offense was observed on surveillance camera.

 

That same day, 29-year-old Stephanie Michelle Mooneyham of 625 Crestlawn Avenue was cited for public indecency. Police say that Mooneyham removed her clothing in a public park exposing her breast and began to remove her bottoms. There were several people in the area that witnessed the offense.

 

Maranda Rose Smith, 32, of 622 Andrew Street was arrested on May 19, for aggravated assault. According to police, Smith assaulted the victim in the case, in the face with a baseball bat, resulting in a gash on the bridge of her nose and a large amount of swelling with the possibility of a broken nose. She is under a $10,000 bond.

 

On May 21, 33-year-old Justin Matthew Cripps of 129 Grande Avenue was arrested for simple possession, reckless endangerment, and joyriding. Police say that a Be On the Look Out, or “BOLO” was issued for a semi-truck that had possibly been stolen and was seen heading towards Wal-Mart driving on the wrong side of the highway. Police were informed that Cripps was told by his supervisor that he could not drive the semi, but Cripps jumped in the truck and took off toward Wal-Mart.

 

Police made contact with Cripps, who is employed by McCormick Trucking, in front of Wal-Mart in a grass field. After taking possession of the vehicle, police were given permission to search the semi-truck after finding 8.4 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in plain sight on the floor in front of the driver’s seat where Cripps was sitting. Cripps was taken into custody without incident. He is under a $30,000 bond and due in court on June 10.

 

That same day, 23-year-old Marissa Paige Anderson of 392 Page Drive was cited for theft. Police say that Anderson was observed in Wal-Mart concealing items with the intent of depriving the store of its merchandise. The items were retrieved and returned to the store. She is due in court on June 10.

 

Also on that date, 25-year-old Daniel Aguirre of 865 Campbell Road was arrested for vandalism. Accoring to Smithville Police, Aguirre approached the east entrance of the DeKalb County Court House and threw a piece of asphalt at the door. The asphalt broke the glass and came to a rest inside the lobby. Upon investigation, Aguirre was found across the street and taken into custody. He is under a $1,500 bond.

 

On May 23, 40-year-old Rickey Lynn Martin of 210 Judkins Lane was arrested for public intoxication. Police responded to a call of an individual possibly intoxicated in the area of the 500 block of E. Broad Street. Upon arrival, police say the officer made contact with Martin who had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. Upon investigation it was discovered that he may have been slipped LSD the night before and that he had flushed a crack pipe down Mapco toilet right before the officer made contact with him. For his and the public’s safety, Martin was taken into custody. He is under a $1500 bond and due in court on June 10.

 

On May 26, 38-year-old Lacy Lee West of Dowelltown was arrested for DUI 2nd offense. Police say that West was observed passed out in her vehicle, stopped in the middle of the roadway on Steeple Chase Drive, with the engine running and with the transmission in drive. Upon awakening, West was checked by EMS and cleared of any medical needs. She had an odor of alcohol on her breath and was unsteady on her feet. She was asked and submitted to several field sobriety tasks in which she performed poorly. She is under a $3,000 bond and due in court on June 10.

 

The following day, 49-year-old Richard B Turner of 807 Fisher Ave was arrested for domestic assault and resisting stop or arrest. Police allege that Turner assaulted the victim by grabbing her by both arms and shoving her against a door inside their residence leaving marks on her arms and early indication of bruising. Turner was heavily intoxicated and refused to cooperate with officers, trying to pull away multiple times while in custody. Once inside the patrol car, he started kicking the door panel. He is under a $8,500 bond and due in court on June 10.
