Candidate List Set
Dennis Stanley

With the February 17 qualifying deadline for the upcoming May primaries having come and gone, the candidate list is now set. The primaries will see several contested races, while other seats will wait until August before facing a challenge.

For the DeKalb County Mayor seat, the race is on in both primaries. Anita T. Puckett will face Matt Adcock and Bradley Hendrix in the Republican primary, while incumbent Tim Stribling will face another challenge from former County Mayor Mike Foster in the Democratic primary.

In the Sheriff’s race, incumbent Patrick Ray will face a challenge in the Republican primary from Keneth Whitehead, with the winner running unopposed in the August General Election.

For DeKalb Road Supervisor, incumbent Danny Hale will run unopposed in the Republican primary after challenger Shane Walker was unable to be certified for the race by the State Highway Board. Hale will face Democratic challenger Wayne Shehane for the seat in the August General Election.

The race for the seat of retiring Register of Deeds, Jeff McMillen, will see Daniel Seber unopposed in the Republican primary, and Shelby Reeder unopposed in the Democratic primary. Both will square off against each other in the August race.

There will be three incumbent Republicans that will run unopposed in both the primary and August election. James L. “Jimmy” Poss will face no opposition for County Clerk, Sean Driver will be unopposed for the Trustee seat, and Susan L. Martin will face no challenger for her Circuit Court Clerk position.
