In preparation for the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War, the Tennessee Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have published a book commemorating 300 patriots.  These sketches were researched and written by members of the Tennessee Society about men and women who lived and died in Tennessee after the American colonists won their independence from Great Britain.  The title of the book is “Patriots to Pioneers, Tennessee’s First Volunteers”.

Throughout the book the artwork of internationally acclaimed artist, David Wright is featured in historically accurate paintings.  Although it was not possible to include every Tennessee Revolutionary War Patriot, the book does have 300 compelling stories of men, women, Native Americans, and free men of color who placed their own lives in harm so that 250 years later we enjoy living in the best country in the world.

The Caney Fork DAR Chapter presented a copy of the book to the library at DeKalb County High School to be used by the students in both the high school and the middle school.  Four Freshmen got a preview of the book at the presentation on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
