The driver of a vehicle that struck and downed a utility pole on Old Hurricane Road Friday afternoon has been taken for treatment.

The wreck, which remains under investigation, happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Old Hurricane Road just off of Cookeville Highway. The driver, a 59-year-old female, struck a utility pole head-on, the impact downing the utility pole and its wires across the road. The single victim was pulled from the wreckage by EMS and taken to the hospital for treatment of what is believed to be non-critical injuries. It is suspected she may have suffered a medical issue which caused her to run off the road.
