A drunk driver has been charged with evading arrest after he tried to get away from deputies while driving the wrong-side of the road.
The suspect, Nelson Ramos Celaya, 31, is charged with driving under the influence and evading arrest.
His charges come after deputies were dispatched to Nashville Highway to investigate a call of a motorist driving in the wrong lane of traffic. One of the responding deputies intercepted Celaya who was in fact driving into oncoming traffic, traveling on the wrong side of the four-lane highway.
The officer fell in behind the suspect and tried to pull him over by Celaya refused to stop. He continued driving in the wrong lane until he found a business on West Broad and turned into the driveway. However, he was stopped by a security gate and was caught by the pursuing deputy.
Celaya smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet and did poorly on his field sobriety test. When asked if he had been drinking, Celaya said he had drank three beers about 30 minutes prior to leading officers on the chase.
