The City of Smithville recently purchased two new four-door Dodge Chargers for the Smithville Police Department. These two new vehicles replaced two aging sedans that required a great deal of maintenance, and the city had only budgeted $20,000 for repairs on all their vehicles for the fiscal year.
By purchasing these two new vehicles, it will save money in the long run by alleviating maintenance costs. With the use of USDA-Community Facility funds being used for the majority of the purchase, only $12,890 was used from city funds. These new sedans will help the department answer calls quicker and more efficiently.
