Clerk fails at lottery, gets probation

Her dreams of hitting it big in the lottery have landed a former convience store clerk on probation after she entered a guilty plea to stealing the scratch offs from her employer.

The clerk, Melody Ann Bandy, 47, entered a guilty plea in circuit court to the charge of grand theft and was issued a six-year sentence by Judge Gary McKenzie. The sentence will be spent on probation during which time she is to repay Kwik N’ Ezy the amount of $18,717 for the lottery tickets she spirited away. She stole the tickets last year between July and until she was caught in October.
