Smithville Church of God, May 13

Will be having its annual yard sale on May 13, 14, 15. Beginning at 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. All kinds of items and some furniture.

 

Annual Singing, May 15

DeKalb County School Calendar

The remainder of the 2020-21 school calendar shows that Thursday, May 2 will be an administrative day with no school for students. Friday, May 21 will be the last day of school for the year and report cards will be sent home. Graduation for the Class of 2021 will be Friday, May 14 at 7 p.m. on the high school football field.

 

Overcomers Support Group meeting, May 16

The meeting will be held on Sunday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m. at Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. Come join us for a great time of fellowship. We will have praise and worship time with a live band, guest speakers, free food and more. The Overcomers Support group as meets on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m., child care available. A gift for newcomers. And Tuesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. with free dinner and dessert.

Notice of public meeting, May 20

Pursuant to Chapter 442, Tennessee Public Act of 1974, “The Sunshine Law” the Center Hill rural Planning Organization will hold a meeting on Thursday, May 20, 2021. The meeting will be held virtually at 1 p.m. (CST). Anyone who is interested in attending will need to contact Virginia Alexander at 931-476-4118 or valexander@ucdd.org for more details. The Center Hill RPO is responsible for comprehensive transportation planning for Cannon, Cumberland, DeKalb, Putnam, Van Buren, Warren, and White Counties. This is an open public meeting. Decoration Day, May 23

Decoration day for Jones Hill Cemetery, Old Statesville Road, Watertown, TN will be held on Sunday, May 23 at 2:30 p.m. No tents will be provided due to social distancing will be encouraged. Please feel free to bring your lawn chair. Donations can be made at any Wilson Bank & Trust branch or you can mail it to: Emily Nix, Treasurer, 305 Cornwell Avenue, Watertown, TN 37184. Pet Food Pantry, May 21

Do you need dog or cat food? The DeKalb Animal Shelter and Friends Group partner each month in hosting a food pantry for pets. The next one is Friday, May 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the shelter on Transfer Station Road off Highway 70 east in Smithville behind Tenneco Automotive. The pet food is free. Just drive through and someone will bring it to your vehicle in the pickup line.

 

Revival & Open House, May 22

Bright Hill Methodist Church will be holding a Revival and Open House May 22, 23 and 24th, 2021. The open house will began each night at 5 p.m. Revival to begin at 6:30 p.m. Weather permitting revival will be held outdoors under a shelter. Brother James Black will be holding the revival. Come celebrate 172 years of Bright Hill Methodist Church.

 

 

Sobriety Checkpoints, May 28

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint on May 28, 2021 on State Route 56 in DeKalb County.

 

Smithville Free Will Baptist Church VBS

Smithville Free Will Baptist Church will be having VBS “Concrete and Cranes” on May 31-June 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. Check them out on Facebook and you can pre-register early and be entered for a special surprise. English and Spanish registration available.
