



Several sentences were handed down last Thursday in DeKalb County Criminal Court after pleas were heard in drug and burglary cases.
Marty Tallent, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated burglary and was sentenced to three years all suspended to probation. The sentence is to run concurrently with a Warren County TDOC probation sentence. He was given 415 days jail credit.
The case stated that Tallent entered a habitation with the intent to commit a felony, theft, or assault on May 27, 2023.
Jada Beth Butcher, 22, pleaded guilty to three counts of sale of schedule II drug (methamphetamine) under 0.5 grams, and was sentenced to a four-year sentence all suspended to supervised probation. She was also fined $2,000, and received credit for time served.
Keith MacWilliam Byers, 51, pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment and received 11 months, 29 days, all suspended except for 48 hours to serve. He was also fined $350 and assigned to an alcohol safety education program.
On August 12, 2022, Byers unlawfully and recklessly engaged in conduct which placed or may have placed another person in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury.
Haley Jada Sosa, 27, pled guilty to reckless driving and was sentenced to five months and twenty-nine days under supervised probation.
On September 16, 2021, Sosa did unlawfully drive an automobile upon and over public streets and highways in a reckless manner and in willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.
