DeKalb County School System will soon begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of its district schools to build on the district’s program of campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our building at all times and the Raptor system will allow that. The Raptor System better allows the tracking of visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provides district schools with a safer environment for students and staff.
Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID, which will be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of ID and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system.
Raptor is only scanning the visitor’s name, date of birth and photo for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders and any private alert at the school. Additional visitor data will not be gathered and no data will be shared with any outside company of organization.
Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date and the purpose of his/her visit. Your ID and car keys will be left in the main office and returned when your visit has ended.
A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork. In the event that a person does not have identification, he/she will not be able to access the building.
