The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests last week, including that of a convicted sex offender.

Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that on August 15, 63-year-old Robert Nimmons of Tabernacle Road, Smithville, was arrested for violation of the sex offender registry.

A deputy responded to 242 Tabernacle Road for a report of the possible violation. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Nimmons who advised he had been living at 260 Tabernacle Road for two years, then, about a year ago, he began having medical issues and moved in with his sister at the 242 address.

Authorities say that Nimmons failed to update or notify authorities for the sex offender registry. Sheriff Ray also said that there are allegations in regards to sexual contact with a minor at the address as well. Nimmons is under a $50,000 bond and he is due in court on August 31.

On August 20, 53-year-old Fernando Gaona of Bessy Gribble Road, McMinnville, was arrested for driving under the influence. He is under a $2,500 bond and he is set to appear in court on August 31.

A deputy was observing traffic on Highway 56 South when a passerby advised that a vehicle was heading towards Warren County leaving their lane of travel multiple times. The deputy later made contact with a beige Kia Sorento turning onto Ferrell Road. After observing the vehicle weaving all over the road, the deputy conducted a traffic stop on L Hendrixson Road.

The deputy reported that Gaona had bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. He reportedly admitted to consuming five beers prior to driving. He also allegedly performed poorly on all field sobriety tests.

The following day, 48-year-old Joseph Nathaniel Bragg Jr. of North Congress Boulevard, Smithville, was arrested for child abuse or neglect. He is under a $10,000 bond and is due in court on September 7.

A deputy was investigating a possible domestic violence case and spoke with the alleged victim, who stated that his stepfather, Bragg, had grabbed him by the throat and thrown him to the ground. Bragg allegedly admitted to the actions and the deputy reported seeing red marks on the victim’s neck and arms.

On August 25, 28-year-old Sonni Michael Fullilove of Keltonburg Road, Smithville, was arrested on two sealed indictments on two charges of methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell or possess charges, and two charges of manufacture deliver sell or possess of a schedule I drug. He is under a $130,000 bond and is due in court on September 11.

On August 26, 33-year-old Kristin Alyss Kerrigan of Hermitage Park Drive, Nashville, was charged with driving under the influence. She is under a $2,500 bond and she is due in court on September 7.

A deputy was dispatched to the area of Quail Point in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Kerrigan asleep in the vehicle, on the roadway with the vehicle running.

Upon speaking with the woman, she allegedly had an alcoholic beverage odor coming from her person. She was asked to perform field sobriety tasks, but refused after taking and failing only one test.

 

 

That same day, 27-year-old Cassondra Cheyenne Allen of Wade Street, Smithville, was charged with domestic assault. She is under a $2,500 bond and is due in court on September 7.

Sheriff’s officials were dispatched to Page Drive in reference to a call of domestic violence. The deputy made contact with the caller, who advised that a verbal argument had escalated into a physical confrontation. The victim reported that Allen placed her hands around the victim’s neck and scratched her, causing visible scratches and abrasions.

On August 27, 54-year-old Scott Easey was arrested for assault on a first responder He is under a $3,500 bond and he is due in court on September 14.

A deputy responded to Tubbs Street to speak with Easey, who had allegedly been in an altercation involving a weapon. During the questioning, Easey became irate and began walking towards the deputy. The deputy tried to push Easey away when the man smacked the deputy’s arm. Easey was placed in custody.
