The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests last week, including a man found with explosives after he broke into a home.

Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that on June 5, 22-year-old Mark Kennedy Derise Gribble, Jr. of Winding Lane, Sparta, was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, domestic assault, possessing a firearm during a felony, aggravated burglary, and possession of explosive components. He is under an $81,000 bond and will be in court on June 26.

Sheriff Ray said that a deputy was dispatched to Johnson’s Chapel Road for a call of an unwanted guest. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke to the residents of the property who reported that Gribble had shown up at the property, started beating on the door and windows, and eventually entered the residence through a window. A female inside the residence, the mother of Gribble’s child, was placed in fear causing her to hide inside a closet to keep him from finding her. Authorities say Gribble had intended to commit an assault.

Deputies found Gribble outside, and detected an odor of marijuana coming from Gribble’s vehicle. A search was conducted and located in the bed of the vehicle, inside a suitcase, a round device described as a metal pipe, wrapped in duct tape, that appeared to be a homemade silencer that fit on the end of Gribble’s Palmetto Dagger 9-mm gun, which was also located inside the vehicle. The search also revealed a Rossi .22 caliber, a Riley defense RKA 47 7.62×39, and a Marlin Glenfield .22 long rifle.

A clear glass pipe, with crystal-like substance inside, along with a plastic pipe with a green leafy substance inside was also found, along with a device, that appears to be an incendiary device, described as a clear plastic tube with smokeless black powder inside, with a paper towel on both sides of it, and a piece of a wick lighter cord coming out of the top. Gribble allegedly admitted that he uses the device to set fires.

The State Bomb Squad was called in to deal with the incendiary device.

After being placed in custody and reading him his Miranda Rights, Gribble was questioned about another call the sheriff’s department responded to on June 3 in reference to a black Dodge truck doing burnouts and shooting out of the truck window from the roadway. Gribble allegedly admitted to detectives that he did shoot out of his truck while doing burnouts.

In other sheriff’s news, on June 3, 51-year-old Matthew David Fayette of Yulonda Hills Road, Smithville, was arrested for theft of property. He is under a $5,000 bond and will be in court June 26.

Sheriff Ray said through the dates of April 28 to May 13, Fayette made 28 transactions on Cash-App using a victim’s bank account information, totaling $1,655 from the victim’s account without the consent of the victim. The case was investigated by a detective.

Also that day, 54-year-old Aimee Deanne Jobe of North Mill Street, Dowelltown, was arrested for driving on a revoked license. She is under a $2,000 bond and will be in court June 26.

Sheriff Ray said a deputy was traveling north on Short Mountain Highway when he observed a black Chevrolet Silverado also traveling north. Upon checking the tag on the vehicle, it was found that it had expired on May 31.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Jobe, who advised she was not able to provide proof of insurance. When asked if she had a valid license, said advised she did. After running her information through dispatch, it showed her license to be revoked for DUI of alcohol and drugs out of DeKalb County on January 23, 2020. She was placed under arrest for DUI 1st offense and transported to the DeKalb County Jail for booking.

On June 8, 42-year-old Randy Kent Jarboe of Last Resort Road, McIntosh, Oklahoma, was arrested for public intoxication. He is under a $2,000 bond and is due in court on June 26.

Sheriff Ray said that a deputy responded to Sparta Highway for a call of a man spotted stumbling around close to the roadway. The deputy made contact with Jarboe who allegedly had a strong odor alcohol. The man allegedly admitted to drinking a pint and a half of vodka.

Two reported runaways have reportedly been found safe and sound. The siblings were reported missing last week and were later found safe and sound at an Alexandria residence.

Sheriff Ray reported that, “On June 5, a deputy was dispatched to Whorton Springs Road for two missing juveniles. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a family member who said the two juveniles had left the family’s residence in Smithville and reported them missing.”

Sheriff Ray said a 13-year-old white female from Quapaw, Oklahoma, and a 15-year-old male from Smithville were reported missing.

Later that day, a detective went to a residence on Shady Lane in Alexandria and spoke to an adult who granted permission for a search the residence. The two juveniles were found hiding in a bedroom closet, and were taken into custody. It is not believed that the adult at Shady Lane knew the kids were in the home.
