Two different traffic stops netted some major alleged drug dealers last week, with drugs weighing in the pounds confiscated.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, on July 16, 48-year-old Bobby Wayne Pinegar, Jr. of McMinnville Highway, Smithville, was arrested for possession of a schedule-VI controlled substance marijuana for manufacture, sell, or delivery, possession of a schedule-I controlled substance heroin for manufacture, sell, or delivery, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held under a $105,000 bond and is due to appear in court on August 1.

Pinegar was stopped on Vaughn Lane in Smithville after a deputy spotted a blue PT cruiser and ran the tag, which came back to Bobby Pinegar. Pinegar had an outstanding warrant, and a traffic stop was performed.  

During a search of the vehicle, five individual vacuum-packed sealed bags with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana were found with a combined weight of five pounds, 12 ounces.

A clear baggy with a pink powdery substance believed to be heroin was found after an inventory of the center console of the vehicle. Inside a vitamin B12 container with a bag inside, and another clear bag with the same substance found in another part of the center console. The combined weight of the substance was 49.12 grams.

Pinegar was also found in possession of a black magnetic container that contained a residue, several spoons with residue, four individual baggies with residue, 29 needles, and several scales, all with the intent to be used for drug activities.

The following Sunday, deputies made another major drug bust following a traffic stop on July 21. Sheriff Ray said that 41-year-old Jonathan Kyle McCormick of Old West Point Road, Smithville, and 40-year-old Matthew Randall Sullivan of Old Snow Hill Road, Dowelltown, were each arrested for methamphetamine manufacture, deliver, sell, or possess, possession of a schedule-I controlled substance heroin for manufacture, sell, or delivery, possession of a schedule-II controlled substance cocaine for manufacture, sell, or delivery, possession of a schedule-III controlled substance for manufacture, sell, or delivery, possession of a schedule-IV controlled substance for manufacture, sell, or delivery, and possession of drug paraphernalia. McCormick also faced an additional charge of driving while in possession of meth.

According to Sheriff Ray, a deputy was patrolling Sparta Highway when he observed a blue Jeep with a driver’s side taillight out. After a traffic stop, the deputy made contact with the driver, McCormick.

After a search of the vehicle, two baggies containing a crystal-like substance believed to be meth were discovered. One of the bags weighed 451 grams, while the other weighed 225 grams, with a combined weight of 676 grams or one pound, eight ounces.

Another baggy was discovered containing a white powdery substance, believed to be heroin, weighing 32.01 grams, while a baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine weighing 4.51 grams was also discovered.

Two other pills believed to be Buprenorphine were located, as well as 10 yellow pills believed to be Xanax, along with a straw and a scale, both with residue, several baggies, a glass with a red liquid inside, and several burnt pieces of aluminum foil were also produced. Also found in the vehicle were several baggies and a scale.

McCormick has a total bond of $200,000, while Sullivan is under a $195,000 bond. Both are due to appear in court on August 15.
