











The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made a few drug arrests last week, including several on meth charges.
Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that 45-year-old Angie Leanna Hollingsworth of Meadowbrook Drive, Smithville, was arrested on April 4, for simple possession of a schedule II drug methamphetamine, and simple possession of a schedule II drug hydrocodone. She is under a $52,500 bond and will be in court on April 20.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and found Hollingsworth as a passenger. A bag that belonged to Hollingsworth was located in the rear seat of the vehicle, where she was seated. Inside the bag authorities allege that there were several small baggies containing a crystal-like substance believed to be meth weighing 1 gram. There were also 32 small baggies, empty but allegedly with residue in the same purse, which would allow Hollingsworth to repackage the meth to deliver and/or sell.
A small piece of plastic containing a single white pill, with markings of M4, which identifies as hydrocodone was also found in the purse.
That same day, 47-year-old Desiree Nicole Neal of Gard Lane, Smithville, was arrested for methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell of possess. She is under a $5,000 bond and will appear in court on April 20.
A deputy made contact with Neal while she was sitting on the side of the roadway. While speaking with the woman, she allegedly dropped a blue plastic container on the ground. Located inside the container, authorities say was a clear plastic baggy, containing .7 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be meth.
Also that day, 65-year-old William Anthony McKenzie of Streamer Drive, Smithville, was charged with driving on a revoked license. He is under a $2,500 bond and he is due in court on April 20.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on a brake light violation. The deputy made contact with the driver, McKenzie, and after running his name through Central Dispatch, it was confirmed that the man had a revoked driver’s license since June 16, 1999.
Ronald Barbosa Gutierrez of Poplar Street, Smithville, was also arrested on April 5, for possession of a schedule VI drug marijuana. He is under a $7,500 bond and will be in court on April 20.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop after noticing someone throw a bottle out of a vehicle on Midway Road. The deputy made contact with the driver, Gutierrez, and noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
Gutierrez allegedly admitted to having a bag containing 28 grams of marijuana inside the center console of the vehicle.
On April 8, 67-year-old Mark Steven Graham of Kenfield Drive, Knoxville, was arrested for driving under the influence. He is under a $2,500 bond and is due in court on April 27.
A deputy was assisting the THP with a motor vehicle crash on Nashville Highway, near Brown Street in Dowelltown, when a white Toyota Forerunner drove off the side of an embankment approximately 200 yards from the location of the original crash.
After making contact with the vehicle, Graham was found to be the drive. He had his window down and authorities say the odor of alcohol was coming from his vehicle.
Graham was reportedly uninjured in the crash and he was asked to exit the vehicle in order to get the man back up to Highway 70. Authorities allege that the man was unsteady on his feet and had bloodshot eyes.
Graham was asked to perform field sobriety tasks which he allegedly performed poorly on. The man reported that he could not perform some of the tasks due to a bad knee, and reportedly admitted to drinking a couple of beers. He was then placed under arrest and a search warrant was issued in order to obtain a blood draw.
The following day, 25-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Ribble of Cooper Street, Smithville, and 40-year-old Cody Leon Davenport of Coconut Ridge Road, Smithville, were arrested following a traffic stop.
Ribble is charged with methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell or possess, simple possession of a schedule IV drug, and driving on a revoked driver’s license. She is under a $58,500 bond, and she will be in court on April 20.
Davenport is charged with simple possession of a schedule IV drug Alprazolam, and methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell of possess.
A deputy observed a red Jeep Cherokee traveling north on New Home Road, failing to maintain its lane of travel. After a traffic stop, the deputy made contact with the driver, Riddle. After running the woman’s license through Central Dispatch, it came back as revoked for failure to comply with financial responsibility from September 24, 2021.
A consensual search of the vehicle was conducted and a black and gray bag was located behind the passenger seat. Inside the bag, the deputy located a small baggy containing five white oval-shaped pills believed to be Alprazolam. Also found inside the bag were multiple baggies containing a crystal-like substance believed to be meth, containing a total of 20.83 grams. There were also 116 empty baggies located inside the bag.
On April 10, 35-year-old Kerri Margaret Jewell of Ragland Bottom Road, Sparta, was arrested for driving on a suspended license first offense. She is under a $2,500 bond and she will be in court on April 27.
A deputy observed Jewell driving a Chevy Blazer on Oak Street. The deputy had prior knowledge that Jewell’s license had been suspended. She had also been arrested on December 15, 2022 for driving without a valid driver’s license.
