The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests last week, including an alleged car thief and a driver allegedly caught with methamphetamines.
Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that on March 21, 34-year-old Robert Blake Rollins of Barrett Road, Smithville, was arrested for one count of theft of property over $1,000 and one count of theft under $1,000. He is under a $6,000 bond and he is due to appear in court on April 6.
A deputy responded to Potts Camp Road in reference to a white Ford F-150 and a trailer being stolen from the owner. After making contact with the owner, the complainant reported that the truck and trailer had been taken without his consent.
A “Be On the Lookout” or BOLO was issued for the stolen vehicle, and a Warren County deputy spotted the truck and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, Rollins, and placed him in custody. The truck was valued at $1,500, while the trailer was valued at $500.
On March 24, a local man was arrested and charged with domestic assault. Sheriff Ray said that 46-year-old Billy Jason Lackey of Osment Road, McMinnville, TN, is under a $2,500 bond and he is set to be in court on April 6.
A deputy responded to Holmes Creek Road on a report of a domestic situation. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a female who stated that she and Lackey had been in a verbal argument when he became irate, started screaming and yelling, then punched a fan, placing her in immediate fear of bodily harm. Lackey was placed in custody.
On March 27, 41-year-old Christopher Matthew McPherson of Gard Lane, Smithville, was charged with methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell of possess. He is under a $50,000 bond and he will appear in court on April 6.
According to Sheriff Ray, McPherson knowingly possessed meth on his person, weighing 1.3 grams. A deputy had conducted a traffic stop on a gray BMW due to the vehicle’s license plates reported as stolen out of Maury County, TN.
During the stop, authorities say that McPherson admitted to having the narcotics on his person. During a pat down search, a small baggy containing a crystal-like substance believed to be meth was located.
In other sheriff’s news, a 22-year-old man charged with aggravated assault and bringing drugs into the DeKalb County Jail was been sentenced in DeKalb County Criminal Court.
On March 21, Caleb Ryan Warrick of Lebanon appeared before Judge Wesley Bray and entered a plea by criminal information to one count of aggravated assault and one count of introduction of contraband into a penal facility. He received a three-year sentence in each case to run concurrently all suspended to supervised probation. He received jail credit from December 26th, 2022 to March 21, 2023.
Sheriff Ray said that on August 1, 2022 a deputy was called to a residence on Moore Taylor Road due to a child custody issue involving a gun. Upon arrival the officer spoke with a man who reported that two people showed up in a vehicle for the purpose of helping move someone out of the residence. The man said when he asked them to leave, the passenger of the automobile, Warrick pulled and cocked a gun, pointing it at him before leaving. An NCIC background check revealed that Warrick was under bond conditions out of Wilson County which prohibited him from carrying a weapon and being near a woman who was at this residence on Moore Taylor Road.
Almost five months later Warrick, a prisoner at the jail was found with cocaine and fentanyl hidden in his rectum. Sheriff Ray said that on December 26, 2022 during a strip search of Warrick, a male correctional officer found a baggie containing 12 grams of a white powdery substance which Warrick produced from his rectum. The substances were tested and believed to be cocaine and fentanyl.
