The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department had a slow week last week, making only a few arrests, but nabbing a fugitive wanted from another state.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said that 21-year-old Brandon Joe Evans-Ortiz of Temperance Hall Road, Liberty, was arrested on a charge as a fugitive from justice and is under a $100,000 bond. On November 4, a deputy arrested Evans-Ortiz for outstanding warrants out of Wisconsin. He is being held and is awaiting extrication.

On November 2, 31-year-old Michael Joseph Lee of Estes Street, Smithville, was arrested on two counts of failure to appear in court and evading arrest. He is due to appear in court on the evading charge on December 2, and December 7, on the failure to appear charges.

According to Sheriff Ray, while a deputy was attempting to serve Lee with two capias bench warrants, he ran through the rear of the residence through a window. The deputy saw Lee climbing out the window and gave him verbal commands to stop, but he continued to run. After a short foot pursuit, Lee was taken into custody without incident.

He is being held without bond on the failure to appear charges and is under a $10,000 bond on the evading charge.

The following day, 62-year-old Charles Eugene Adcock of Obie-Adcock Road, Smithville, was arrested for domestic assault. He is under a $3,500 bond and he is due in court on December 2.

Sheriff Ray said that on November 3, deputy made contact with a female, who advised that on the previous night she and her husband, Adcock, had been in an argument at their residence when Mr. Adcock struck her in the face several times with a television remote control. She reportedly had visible marks on her face and hands.

Adcock was place into custody.
