A 66-year-old Dowelltown man may never see the light of day again as a free man after he admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
The man, William Kenneth Phillips, is charged with rape and incest and is being held under $150,000 bond. He will face arraignment in court on May 9.
According to sheriff's department reports, the incident happened between March and May of 2018 and involved sexual contact with a young female teen.
"Phillips did state this happened four to five times," Sheriff Patrick Ray read from the suspect's confession to the felony offenses, noting he was related to the girl bringing the incest charge.
Phillips was charged after the case was investigated by sheriff's detectives upon a report of the crime. He could face eight to 12 years in prison the rape charge. Had the victim been one year young, meaning 12 or less, he could have faced 15 to 25 years for the crime.
