Early voting has come to a close and election officials are now preparing for Election Day, beginning tomorrow morning. While early voting numbers were up over comparable elections in 2018 and 2014 numbers, the early vote tally was not huge.

From July 15-30, 2022, a total of 2,489 voters cast their ballots, while 2,361 voted in August 2018 and 2,399 in August 2014. During the May Primaries this year, 3,579 voted including 1,661 on Election Day, 1,815 during early voting, and 103 by absentee.

Included in the 2,489 early voting numbers were 109 absentees returned so far, and 23 votes from two nursing homes.

The DeKalb County Election Commission has reported that a total of 1,933 cast ballots in the Tennessee Republican Primary and 418 in the State Democratic Primary while 138 voted only in the DeKalb County General Election without participating in either state primary during the 14 day early voting period.

Thursday, August 4, Election Day voting will be held at all 12 precincts in DeKalb County from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Voters may choose any candidate in the County and Municipal elections, but must choose a party in the state primaries, Republican or Democrat.
