This is Emergency Medical Services Week and as such, County Mayor Tim Stribling has issued a proclamation honoring those who take up the noble cause.
“The members of Emergency Medical Teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Stribling began in the proclamation he read aloud at the courthouse Monday morning, noting that access to quality emergency care dramatically increases the survival and recovery rate.
The mayor pointed out that the skills EMS workers need take time and energy to learn over the years.
“The members of the Emergency Medical Services teams, whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills,” he said, noting EMS includes physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators and others.
Given their contribution to the welfare of the community, the mayor called for citizens to thank those who are among the ranks of EMS.
“With the theme of ‘EMS Strong Beyond the Call’, I encourage the community to observe this week with the appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities,” he said in signing the county proclamation.
