Veterans Day Program, cancelled
The annual Veterans Day Program at Smithville Elementary School has been cancelled this year due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. Although the faculty, staff and students are very disappointed to cancel the program, the health and safety of everyone involved takes precedence. It is our sincere hope that we will be able to resume the program in 2021. Smithville elementary would like to express their deepest appreciation and admiration to all veterans, and thank them for their sacrifice, their bravery, and the example they set for us all.
Veterans Day/American Legion
There will be no Veteran’s Day Program at the County Complex this year because of Covid 19. The American Legion regrets this and hopes to have one next year. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Judy Redmon
DeKalb County Health Department Administering Drive through Flu Shots
The DeKalb County Health Department is administering drive through flu shots Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. All flu vaccines are FREE!

The L.B. J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Central Office and Head Start Centers will be closed November 11, 2020 in observance of Veterans Day.

DeKalb County Angel Tree Project Signups
The 26th Annual DeKalb County Angel Tree Project signups are coming soon. However, due to COVID 19, the application pick up location and process will be different. Monday, November 2nd and Tuesday, November 3rd are the only two dates that applications will be made available. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. Times will be from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Life Enrichment Center under the carport.
Applicants must be DeKalb County residents and children from birth to no older than age 12 by December 25, 2020 are eligible. You must bring photo identification and a bill with the correct current DeKalb County address of the person applying. You must also provide social security cards and birth certificates (Mother’s copy is okay) for all children listed on the application.
Guardian paperwork for temporarily placed children is acceptable. Documents are returned to the applicant, only the application is kept. Please make sure you fill out the application as completely and accurately as possible. If an applicant cannot appear in person, their application can be submitted by someone else as long as all of the required information and documentation is presented. Come prepared with all of the necessary documentation to complete your application and return it for review between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm on November 2nd or November 3rd. NO EXCEPTIONS. Lighthouse Christian Camp donations needed
Lighthouse Christian Camp will be having its 2020 Christmas parties for at risk/Disadvantage Children. In these trying times, On December 5 and 12. At this time we are asking everyone attending, both campers and volunteers to wear masks. It may look different this year, but God is in control and He will bless our efforts. You can help by donating unwrapped new or like new items. We appreciate having your items to the camp by November 29. You may also make a monetary donation to be used for the Christmas parties. Regifting Event, Dec. 5
This event will be held at the DeKalb Community Complex, on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 8-12p.m. or until all gifts are gone. Children shop free for parents/caregiver, any child within the age of 4 years old to 12 years old. This year children will help assemble Blessing Bags for local nominees.
