Memorial Day closings
The DeKalb County Courthouse, County Complex County Offices and Senior Center will be closed Monday, May 31, 2021 in observance of Memorial Day. The County Clerk's office will also be closed Saturday, May 29, 2021.
The DeKalb County Transfer Station and all trash collection sites will be closed Monday, May 31, 2021 in observance of Memorial Day.
Sobriety Checkpoints, May 28
The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint on May 28, 2021 on State Route 56 in DeKalb County.
Singing, May 30
Indian Creek Baptist Church will have a 5th Sunday singing on May 30 at 6:00 p.m. The Shirah Brothers will be the featured singers. Bro. Ric Lee is the pastor.
Smithville Free Will Baptist Church VBS, May 31
Smithville Free Will Baptist Church will be having VBS “Concrete and Cranes” on May 31-June 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. Check them out on Facebook and you can pre-register early and be entered for a special surprise. English and Spanish registration available. VBS, May 31
Old Free Will Baptist, 3065 Blue Springs Road, Smithville, TN. Will be having VBS, Rocky Railway starting May 31 – June 4th each night from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Family night will be held on June 4 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. come and see what the kids learned. Food will be served after the program.
Library Board Meeting, May 25
The DeKalb County Library Board will have their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 25. 2021 at 4 p.m. at Justin Potter Library. The public is welcome to attend this meeting. They will be required to wear a mask and observe social distancing for the meeting.
L.B.J. & C closed, May 31
The L.B.J. & C Development Corporation Central Office will be closed Monday, May 31, 2021 in observance of Memorial Day.
Smithville Work Camp, June 4
The Smithville Work Camp is an annual home rehabilitation/beautification project organized by the Smithville Church of Christ. The church began work camp as a means of helping less fortunate residents of the county do some fix up and clean-up projects around their homes. If you would like to have your house considered for the project contact the church at 615-597-4159 by Friday, June 4 to acquire an application and release form.
L.B.J. & C. Meeting, June 1
The monthly meeting of the L.B.J. & C. Head Start Policy Council has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 1, 2021 beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the L.B. J. & C. Development Corporation, 1150 Chocolate Drive, Cookeville, Tennessee.
Parkinson’s support meeting, June 1
The Parkinson’s support group will meet Tuesday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at Caney Fork Baptist church, 2404 Hwy. 70 E., Cookeville, TN. It will be a Hybrid meeting. 2021 Nate Strong Car Show, June 19
Nate Strong Benefit car show will be held on June 19, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration till 12 p.m. and awards at 2 p.m. This will be at New Life Connection Center parking lot, 738 S. Congress Boulevard, Smithville, Tennessee 37166. Awards for Nate’s Pick, People’s Choice Best of Show, and Top 10. Registration is $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show. Bank Cemetery Decoration, June 4
The annual decoration at Banks Cemetery in DeKalb County will be held June 4, 5, and 6. Please plan to attend. Your support is needed so the cemetery can be properly maintained and kept looking good. DeKalb 4H, June 14
Presents “The 4-H Traveling Road Show”. Monday, June 14 at Green Brook Park. Cost is $25 and includes lunch, snack, and shirt for tie-dye. Anyone currently in 4th-7th grade is welcome to attend. UCHR Commodity Distribution, June 24
The Upper Cumberland Human Resources will hold a commodities distribution for DeKalb County on Thursday, June 24 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the DeKalb County UCHRA office. Sign-up will be available at distribution site.
