VBS at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, June 26
Mt. Herman Baptist Church will be having VBS Saturday, June 26th from 10 am to 2 pm. The theme is To Mars and Beyond. Everyone welcome.
Miss Jamboree Pageants, June 26
The 2021 Miss Jamboree Pageants are set for Saturday, June 26 at the DeKalb County Complex starting at 11:00 a.m. sponsored by the Smithville Business and Professional Women’s Club and Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital.
All Tennessee girls, babies, and toddlers may enter by June 18th.
The entry fee is $25.00 per contestant. A People’s Choice Award will also be given in each category and there are optional awards of prettiest eyes, hair, attire, and photogenic. The entry fee for optional is $5.00 in each category. All winners in the 11-13, 14-16, and 17-20 are required to be present during the Fiddlers Jamboree July 2 & 3 to help distribute trophies, flyers, etc.
Age groups are as follows:
Boys and girls- one day to 6 months
Boys and girls- 7-12 months
Boys and girls-13-24 months
Boys and girls-25-48 months
Girls-4-6 years
Girls-7-10 years
Girls-11-13 years
Girls- 14-16 years
Girls-17-20 years
Include on the entry form, name and age of contestant, complete address and phone number, parents or guardians names, and note “I love the Jamboree because”.

Libraries Reading Program, till June 24
The Justin Potter and Alexandria Libraries Summer Reading Program will begin on June 3rd and end on June 24th. All events for both libraries will be in the DeKalb County Complex Theatre Room at 2:00 pm. Children of all ages can begin registering for Summer Reading at both libraries on May 24th.
Each child that registers and meets their goal will receive a participation certificate and other goodies at the end of the Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is “Tails and Tales”. In order to insure the well-being of the families attending and the library staff masks and social distancing will be required.

2021 Nate Strong Car Show, June 19
Nate Strong Benefit car show will be held on June 19, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration till 12 p.m. and awards at 2 p.m. This will be at New Life Connection Center parking lot, 738 S. Congress Boulevard, Smithville, Tennessee 37166. Awards for Nate’s Pick, People’s Choice Best of Show, and Top 10. Registration is $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show. The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint on June 11, 2021 on State Route 70 in DeKalb County.
DeKalb 4H, June 14
Presents “The 4-H Traveling Road Show”. Monday, June 14 at Green Brook Park. Cost is $25 and includes lunch, snack, and shirt for tie-dye. Anyone currently in 4th-7th grade is welcome to attend. The Upper Cumberland Human Resources will hold a commodities distribution for DeKalb County on Thursday, June 24 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the DeKalb County UCHRA office.
