DeKalb Schools to be Closed

The remainder of the 2021-22 school calendar is as follows: Schools will be closed on the following Spring Break March 28 to April 1; Good Friday, April 15; The last day of school will be May 23 (Administrative Day May 20).

 

Veterans Service Officer Ready to Assist

Are you a veteran in need of assistance? DeKalb County has a Veteran's Service Officer ready to help you, not only with filing claims, but for conversations about your service.

Retired military service officer Bill Rutherford is located on the first floor of the DeKalb County Courthouse and is ready to offer assistance. He is available for in-office visits each Tuesday and Thursday or can be reached by telephone at any time at 615-560-3610.

DeKalb County appreciates the service of all veterans and is proud to provide this service.

Upper Cumberland Food Distribution, Feb. 24

The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) will hold a commodities distribution for DeKalb County on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the DeKalb County UCHRA office. Sign-up will be available at the distribution site. This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of Tennessee.

 

New Hope for Hurt Hearts, March 3

Kay Quintero will be offering a seven –week class at the Smithville Housing Authority conference room (415 Jackson Street) and the Haven of Hope meeting room (301 West Main). These classes are free and open to the public. We can’t go through life without some form of hurt. The weekly classes at the SHA will begin Thursday, March 3 at 1 p.m. If interested call 615-418-9562 and leave a message. Your call will be returned, and further information will be provided. A start date is yet to be set for the Haven of Hope classes, but you can call the same number for more information.

 

Campaign Kick-Off, March 5

Mingy K. Ball is campaigning for General Sessions Judge, will be having a Campaign Kick-Off on March 5 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the DeKalb County Community Complex. Food and activities for the whole family.

 

Revival, March 6-8th

Revival will be held at Dowelltown Baptist Church on March 6 through 8th. Sunday preaching will be Bro. Ryan Crips, which will start at 6 p.m. Monday night will be preaching by Bro. Bobby Hale at 7 p.m. and Tuesday night preaching will be by Jeff Crips beginning at 7 p.m.
