Feeding the children

In an effort to help with feeding students while DeKalb County schools are temporarily closed, local churches collaborated and began giving away food on Monday, while the board of education will continue the efforts next week.

“Local churches came to us wanting to help, and we truly appreciate them,” said Director Cripps. “We do have to follow federal guidelines meaning the student must be in the car. This will be a drive-up, with no one getting out of the vehicle, but the student is required to be in the car,” he continued.

Next week pick-ups will be announced by Director of School Patrick Cripps.

“We will be able to provide two meals per day beginning next week” said Director Cripps. “Students will receive breakfast and lunch for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, they will receive breakfast and lunch for Thursday and Friday.

“Again, we have to follow state guidelines which requires the student to be in the car at each food distribution,” he reiterated.
