Fender bender involving school bus

A motorist on Broad Street rear-ended a school bus Tuesday (Oct. 8) afternoon at the intersection of South Mountain Street. The bus was carrying 12 students.

According to reports, an elderly lady driving a Ford car pulled out of Dairy Queen parking lot heading east. Traffic was stopped at the red light, and the woman’s care accelerated hitting the rear of bus $15-43. Her car then went off the highway and ended in the area of Advance Financial. No one was injured.

Director of Schools Patrick Cripps said parents of the students were called to pick them up at the scene. The bus was taken to the bus garage with rear bumper damage. The car sustained considerable damage.
