DeKalb Firefighters responded to the scene of a trailer fire on Monday, October 4, where the rental property and most everything inside was totally destroyed. Sheriff’s officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
According to DeKalb County Fire Chief Donny Green, at 5:17 p.m. fire crews received a dispatch reporting a fire as 150 E.H. Haas, Dowelltown, just off Highway 70. Liberty Engine 65, Main Station Engine 59, and Tanker 1 with the DeKalb Fire Department responded to the scene, along with deputies with the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department and a unit with DeKalb EMS.
Upon arrival, fire crews found the middle of the trailer fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and keep it from spreading to other structures.
The owner of the property, Darren Rhea of Dowelltown, told authorities that his tenant at the home was in the process of moving out and that no one was at home at the time of the incident. Some of the renter’s belongings were still inside at the time of the fire and the property is considered a total loss.
