DeKalb County firefighters battled a trailer fire last Friday, that totally destroyed a local home. Authorities say no one was at home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.
On the afternoon of March 22, a call was made to E911 reporting a structure fire at 196 James Place. Cookeville Highway Engine 61, Main Station Engine 59, and Tanker 2, with the DeKalb County Fire Department, the Dekalb County Sheriff's Office, and Dekalb EMS responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the rental home, owned by Mark “Pokey” Pedigo, fully involved in flames. Fire crews worked to knockdown the flames and keep it from spreading to other nearby homes and properties, but the trailer and its contents were a total loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The renter of the property, Scottie Eaton, was not at home at the time of the fire.
