Garbage Collection Sites to Have New Hours
Matt Adcock

DeKalb County will soon be implementing new hours for its garbage collection convenience sites.

According to County Mayor Matt Adcock, beginning October 30 all 12 DeKalb County Garbage Collection Convenience sites will be closed on Sundays, but open six days, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

“This may be controversial but I believe our county convenience site employees deserve the opportunity to have Sundays off with their families,” Adcock said in a press release. “That if they want to attend church, everyone has the same opportunity. Even if they attend church on Saturday, it can be accommodated for.”

“Each employee will work three days and off for four,” Adcock continued. “Many sites are closed on different days and the hours of operation were all different. This is a uniform strategy to have all sites.”

Adcock said that the new schedule gives the majority of the people the opportunity and convenience of disposing of their trash after they get off of work. “No matter what end of the county you are on that day, you can expect that the days and hours of operation are the same. There is no perfect plan, but to have the largest positive impact this plan has been chosen. Please be patient with us as we implement this period of change. Many more great things are to come.”
