Albert Wayne Fisher Jr is charged with 2nd degree murder

A Halloween shooting resulted in 37 year-old Tyler Durden losing his life. Albert Wayne Fisher, Jr. has been charged with 2nd degree murder in the case.

A call came into Central Dispatch at 6:01 p.m that a man had been shot in Liberty. The victim, Durden, was transported by DeKalb EMS to St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital, later transported by EMS to Vanderbilt Hospital where he died.

DeKalb Sheriff Patrick Ray released the following prepared statement, “On October 31 2019 at 6:01 p.m., Central Dispatch received a call reporting a man had been shot at a residence on Eckels Heights Street in the town of Liberty. An off-duty Detective was present at a public event close to the address of the shooting. The off-duty Detective shortly arrived on the scene and took the shooter into custody before other county deputies arrived on the scene.”

The shooting victim was transported from the scene by DeKalb E.M.S. to Ascension St. Thomas DeKalb and was later transport by DeKalb E.M.S. to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville where the victim succumbed to his injuries.”

Albert Wayne Fisher Jr., age 50, of Eckels Heights Street Liberty has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder. Fisher has a $500,000 bond and will appear in court on November 7, 2019.

The warrant reads: On or about the 31st of October 2019 in DeKalb County Tennessee, Albert Wayne Fisher Jr. did knowingly and unlawfully kill (the victim) by shooting him in the chest with a handgun in violation of TCA 39-13-210, against the peace and dignity of the State of Tennessee.

The case is being investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the 13th District Attorney General’s Office and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.

Friday, the TBI released a statement saying “at the request of 13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, TBI Special Agents joined DeKalb County deputies and investigators with the DA’s office in investigating a shooting that occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday at a residence on Eckles Heights Road in Liberty. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Tyler Durden, approached the residence of his mother and stepfather, Wayne Fisher. Fisher came to the door, and during that encounter, fired a weapon, striking Mr. Durden. The victim was ultimately transported to a Nashville hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.”
